Samarkand & Shakhrisabz in 3 Days
This three-day route combines Samarkand's main landmarks, a trip to ancient Shakhrisabz — the birthplace of Amir Timur — and an introduction to local crafts. The first day is devoted entirely to Samarkand, from the Gur-Emir Mausoleum to the Shah-i-Zinda necropolis. On the second day you'll travel to Shakhrisabz, seeing the ruins of the Ak-Saray Palace and the Dorut Tilovat mausoleum complex. The third day brings you to the mausoleum of Imam al-Bukhari, the Ulugbek Observatory, and hands-on workshops in the village of Konigil, where Samarkand's famous handmade paper is still produced today.
